Projects We Are Working On

Speak Out regularly delivers projects. Some of these are delivered in partnership with other organisations.

All of our projects embrace the knowledge of people with lived experience.

Respect (Our) Ability

What is Respect (Our) Ability?

Respect (our) Ability is a project where people with intellectual disability become leaders.

It is run by Speak Out Tasmania and the South Australian Council on Intellectual Disability (SACID).

It is for people in Tasmania and South Australia.

What does the project do?

People with intellectual disability:

  • Be part of boards, meetings, and groups.

  • Make their own decisions.

  • Learn about their rights; and

  • Be leaders in their community.

How Does it Work?

People with intellectual disability are part of co-designing the project.

They work with boards and other organisations to make them more inclusive.

The project uses co-design and action learning strategies.

Podcasts

Speak Out Advocacy Tasmania joined forces with Edge Radio 99.3FM to create a podcast series called Courageous Conversations that lifts up the voices of Tasmanians living with disability.

Our aim was to share real-life stories, capturing each person's experiences, challenges, and successes.

You can listen to episodes here.
