About
This course titled 'Empowering Advocacy: A Guide for Individuals with Disabilities' is designed to equip participants with essential self-advocacy skills and knowledge. Targeted at individuals with intellectual disabilities, their families, and support networks, this course draws upon the extensive expertise of Speak Out Advocacy, the longest-serving advocacy organization in Tasmania. Over three comprehensive sections, participants will explore the foundations of self-advocacy, learn effective strategies for communicating their needs, and discover how to engage within their communities. By the end of the course, learners will be able to better articulate their rights, actively participate in decision-making processes, and utilize available resources for support and empowerment. Engage with fellow advocates, share experiences, and foster a culture of inclusivity and understanding as we work towards a society where all voices are heard and respected.
